Description
The Manitowoc 000016053 water level sensor is an official replacement component for Manitowoc commercial ice machines (frequently used across Indigo and i-Series models).
Key Functions
-
Water Level Detection: Uses electrical conductivity to detect when the water trough reaches full capacity during the freeze cycle.
-
Harvest Cycle Trigger: Signals the control board to terminate the water fill process and proceed with the ice-making cycle.
-
Freeze Protection: Ensures the pump does not run dry by detecting low water levels.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
-
E06 or Water Level Error Codes
-
Symptom: Ice machine shuts down or continuously fills/drains water.
-
Cause: Mineral scale, lime buildup, or grease on the metal probe pins preventing accurate electrical conductivity.
-
Fix: Remove the sensor and clean the metal probe tips thoroughly using a soft brush and a dedicated ice machine cleaner/descaler. Ensure the wire connections and plug are dry and free of corrosion.
-
-
Incorrect Water Fill Level
-
Symptom: Ice slabs are too thin or thick, or water overflows the trough.
-
Fix: Verify the sensor is snapped securely into its mounting bracket at the correct height. Inspect the wiring harness for nicks or corrosion at the connection point to the main control board.
